Isotope Limits

Isotope limits are set for individual labs. The limits are set by requesting the "amount on hand at any one time." When requesting isotope limits this should be kept in mind. This means you may order up to your requested amount, as long as the inventory in your lab has been depleted. The Radiation Safety Office keeps an inventory of each lab and will not approve an order if your limit has been exceeded.

Increasing Isotope limits for an individual lab requires a memo to Dr. Dennis Paul,  Radiation Safety Committee, Chairman, requesting additional or increased limit. Dr. Paul is located in the Medical Education Building, Pharmacology Department.

When increasing limits, please include the "amount to have on hand at any one time." A temporary permit will be returned to you in the form of a memo.

When adding isotopes to your current permit, it is necessary to include shielding or ventilation procedures (when requesting I-125, S-35 or P-32) in the request.
